Elimu Safari

A  Global Citizenship Storytelling Project

We are seeking funding for a Global Professional Development opportunity hosted by the Overlander Safari Company.  We will participate in an educational exchange with classrooms in Narok, Kenya. The goal is to collaborate with students and teachers in rural schools, and promote quality sustainable education. After the trip to Kenya, we plan to share our connections with Pleasanton students and teachers. Our focus for the 2015-2016 school year will be on teaching GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP and STORYTELLING. A summary of both projects is listed below: 

GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP 
Students will be able to integrate with the schools in Africa, have an authentic global educational connection, and participate in a year long #citizensofchange curriculum described at www.tinyurl.com/citizensofchange. The #citizensofchange project is a curriculum that uses digital tools to teach global citizenship and to open up the four walls of a classroom. 

GLOBAL STORYTELLING
After we return from Africa, we will inspire our Pleasanton students to learn from kids in Kenya, and then all students can share their stories with each other. The global storytelling project will develop throughout the entire 2015-2016 school year. The yearlong curriculum will encourage students to write and direct their own digital stories, and will culminate with the 2nd Annual PUSD Short Film Festival.
