On 2/26/15 @ 7:25 PM our family lost its centerpiece...

Heaven gained an angel!!  Ely, who had been battling so many things that had finally taken its toll on her and is now at rest  but still watching over us.  She was a young 71 years old and had been fighting Kidney Disease for many years.  A life of dialysis was no fun, but she never complained about it and never stopped living.  Along with her high blood pressure and diabities...  she was stronger than anyone else could have been with these daily battles.

Ely had moved to Arizona over 3 years ago. She started losing weight but unfortunatly never made it close enough for a translpant.  We also noticed a decline in her health.  In December mom had suffered a head injury from a fall.  This knocked the wind out of her! She had troubles daily with walking, motor skills and just thinking clearly.  This fall was 1 of 4 in a short time period.

On February 8th she came to the house for coffee and donuts with the kids ( a weekly tradtion that we will forever miss) and was complaining of an infection in her arm.  After some time at the park with mom basking in the sunshine and listening to the kids play and laugh, we headed to the ER.  She was admitted for treatment of the infection  and to receive dialysis thru a diffferent port.  We left mom to sleep overnight and in the morning received a phone call that her FISTULA had ruptured and she bled out, coded and received 40 minutes of CPR.  At this point we were not optimistic about her making it out of the ICU.  Tuesday morning mom woke up and spent the next 3 days laughing, making jokes and endlessly telling us she loved us.  After a procedure on her arm that Thursday, mom fell into a sleep, then Sunday she suffered seizures for 2 days.  After that she never woke up again.  She spent the next week sleeping while she had many visitors and phone calls from loved ones. Her brother Steve, son Marc and daughter Cyndi flew in during her last few days.

Our mother spent her life living and loving her friends and family.  She loved organizing parties and social events and never lived a day without lauging and smiling.  Our mom in the very end brought people together...

She is still doing it now!  Ely was strong, amazing, fun loving, smart and  was always there for anyone in need.

As a single woman she lived well, took care of her family with whatever she had and when she passed had nothing left. We are trying to raise funds for her after life expenses, funeral and memorial services in  Arizona and Mass.  The plan will also be to take mom back to be with her parents and her sister .  What ever funds are remaining will be donated in her name to the Kidney Disease Foundation.

We can't tell everyone how much they meant to our mother.  From all the emotional support we have had we can see that Ely meant a lot to you as well..Thank you for helping and celebrating the life of a good friend, a wonderful mother, a loving and giving grandmother (Mimi) and just a very special person.
