From our hearts to Nicky's heart

You know his smile, you know his laugh, you know his HEART. Nicky Marez has a heart of gold- and his heart needs your help.
Apple Jacks, Aunt Tina's fried chicken, WWE, just a few of Nicky's favorite things... and if you have ever met Nicky, you know that he LOVES hockey. He loves the Chicago Blawkhawks, idolizes Tony Esposito and feels most at home when he is in between the pipes. That's right. Our 4 foot tall Nicky is a beast in the net. He plays hockey with more heart than anyone else we know. That is why it was so shocking to hear that his heart-this heart of gold-was not working properly.
On a normal well check visit, Nicky's doctor discovered that he had high blood pressure and a heart murmur. Several more tests showed that Nicky's aorta had a 99.9% blockage. His body adapted over the years by growing new arteries to supply blood to his body, however his heart had worked too hard for too long and now needs to be fixed. It is not going to be an easy fix, as we learned today. A heart catheterization is not an option. With surgery in the near future, we know that the medical bills for the Marez family are going to start flying in.
Nicky will be 10 on January 19. No ten year old should ever have to worry about the health of his heart. The best birthday present we can give him and his family is our support. Donating to this fund is letting them know that we love them and that we are here for them.
On behalf of Rick, Jenn, Ricky and Nick we are asking that you find it in your heart to help this wonderful family as they prepare to handle the medical expenses for Nicky's procedures- and get him back on the ice!
