Dominica - TS Erika Disaster Relief
Donation protected
On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Dominica was devastated by a tropical storm that left the island with massive flooding, mudslides and, sadly, loss of lives. Several villages were so badly hit that they remain cut off from the rest of the island - left isolated by washed away roads and bridges. Streets were turned into rivers of mud and debris. Communities lost homes, cars, food, personal items, etc.
Almost 36 years ago to the day, Dominica was left similarly devastated by Hurricane David which caused widespread destruction including damage to buildings and infrastructure and the loss of numerous lives. The Dominica-American Relief & Development Association (DARDA) was organized as a way for Dominicans living in and around the New York area to help raise funds and provide aid to their homeland as the island attempted to recover and rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane David.
It is for this reason, and the very nature of our organization's founding, that DARDA has pledged our support towards Tropical Storm Erika relief efforts in Dominica. We are asking for your assistance.
