Not One More Overdose, Lost Spirit, Grieving Heart.......

Not One More Pittsburgh is a Grassroots effort that is dedicated to educating families about heroin hazards and other drug abuse, so that their families might guide their kids to a path that is free from devastation, incarceration and death. We want to help  parents whose kids are struggling with addiction to find programs for their kids and find peace for their minds. We want to help reduce the stigma that is associated with drug abuse, so that our kids can go into emergency rooms and get the care and help they deserve.  Once we are further established we hope to reduce harm by working with other organizations and offer Narcan training and distribution which will save lives.  The point of Not One More Pittsburgh Chapter is to educate parents and the community about the magnitude of the problem.

Not One More Pittsburgh is doing this by holding vigils in local towns where we remember those who have died from this horrible disease. We are also showing films, distributing literature and offering comfort and advice that educates the public about the epidemic and the stigma.

After battling addiction with two kids for four years, Laura Propst knew there had to be others out there fighting the same fight. Nothing is worse than being alone, feeling alone, and feeling hopeless.  No words can describe what it feels like to realize that your kids are doing drugs, but nothing prepares you for the shock that heroin addiction imparts, the death sentence that hangs over the house.  Laura started Not One More Pittsburgh after seeing a group in California that shared the same interests and mission.  She started their first chapter in Pittsburgh and now there are 6 others in the United States.  Since the beginning the Pittsburgh Chapter has grown a following and now has a chance to impact its cause by forming a non profit.

We so need your help to accomplish our goals.  We are applying for our 501 C3 and need to raise at least $500 to pay for the paperwork.  A 501 C3 is given to an organization that has been approved by the IRS as a tax-exempt charitable entity. We also need $600+ for insurance.  We are not some big association run by big business, but a few moms who want to help our community become a better and safer place and want our children to live out the lives they were intended to. The face of addiction has changed. The faces are those of our kids, your neighbors….Please do something, something that might keep your child from this nightmare that is affecting so many of us.

We can only accomplish this by working together with our city leaders, the media, social networks, and by utilizing all available resources.

“logic leaves on a train

with no backtracking

Big red door

blocking the way

Dispirited face

locks the child inside

far in alternative world

A place where

I cannot go.”  (written by a parent whose three children were addicted)

We want to give hope to parents, to communities, please help us stomp out this horrible disease of addiction and give Hope to the families that need it.
