NFCHS to Robotics U.S. Open

We are proud and excited to announce that our NFCS after school VEX robotics team has won the Excellence Award at the West Shore VEX Skyrise Qualifier in Harrisburg, PA.

This award means that NFCS has qualified to compete in the U.S. Open Robotics Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa from April 7-9.  (link to competition) Right now we are one of only two teams representing Pennsylvania in the almost 200 teams attending the competition.

This account is to help fund all travel and hotel costs related to this trip, and the team could really use any financial help you can offer.

New Foundations Charter School is a Title 1 funded school located in Northeast Philadelphia. Our charter proclaims that we are a "caring community of learners." We have dedicated, passionate, hard-working students, who are trying to overcome a lot of different hurdles that life throws at them.

Last year our after school robotics program was formed by Mr. Brandon Petcaugh. We attended several competitions, and qualified for the PA State Championship. We have made immense strides since then, and I did not think we would have this opportunity so soon in the life of the program.

After a full day of school, we have a core group of students who stay until 7 or 8 at night building and perfecting their robots. They have put countless hours into these creations, and I know they will always remember driving them in front of a crowded auditorium at nationals. Here is a link to the actual competition for this year, if you are unfamiliar with it: YOUTUBE LINK

Please contribute to our success, and help send these kids to Iowa!
