Orca Books Cooperative

Donation protected
Orca Books has been an important fixture of the Olympia community for 26 years, when it was started by the current owner Linda Berentsen. After almost 30 years of running the bookstore,  Linda is moving into retirement.

Orca decided to become a cooperative so that we can continue providing affordable, quality books to the Olympia community while supporting our staff with secure and fulfilling jobs.  The co-op benefits the local community by offering space for educational events, meetings, family activities, and display of local arts and crafts, among other things. … like providing a loving home for everybody’s favorite shop cat, Orlando!

But now, Orca Books Co-op is suffering from the combined effects of the coronavirus, the purchase sale of the businesses and transition to cooperative, and from moving costs.

Any amount that you can donate here is helpful. <3 Please support this development of a cooperative economy that benefits workers and consumers, and can help keep Olympia's community bookstore open for decades to come!

For more information about this campaign, and how you can help us with the transition into a cooperative, please email us at co-op@orcabooks.com or give us a call at (360) [phone redacted].

If you would like to purchase a co-op membership in addition to making a donation here, you can buy a membership online .
