Brittany Needs Your Help

Brittany Gonzalez is a 15 year old who was diagnosed with Dysautonomia* (POTS) on Oct. 29, 2014. Brittany is a top performing student at Harrison High and has a G.P.A. 4.0. Unfortunately, Brittany has been homebound since Oct. and has not been able to return to school due to her symptoms. Brittany needs to travel to Dallas, TX in order to receive treatment. We are asking the community for donations. Our goal is to raise $12,000 to cover medical, travel, food, and hotel expenses.

Whats is POTS?

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a condition characterized by an inappropriate elevation in heart rate when standing up. People who have POTS experience symptoms - most often lightheadedness and palpitations - whenever they are upright. Their symptoms can vary in severity from quite mild to incapacitating.

In addition to the rapid heart rate, they can also have a drop in their blood pressure when standing. Up to 40% of people with POTS will have at least one episode of syncope (passing out).  cite: www.about.com/health
