Metopic Synostosis Surgery for Owen

Donation protected
In February of 2014 I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Owen. Everything pointed to him being a normal and healthy baby boy until one routine medical check-up in which they suspected that a suture in his skull had fused too early. After a visit to the specialist his diagnosis was confirmed as Metopic synostosis (trigonocephaly) - A condition in which the metopic suture fuses too early causing the scalp to have a triangular shape. This condition can cause developmental delays, and disfiguration if left untreated. My baby had his surgery back in November with great success. The surgery has left him with a scar running from ear to ear like a headband. He has dissolvable plates and screws holding the portion of his skull that was removed and re-shaped in place. His orbital bones were pushed forward. His eyes swelled shut and blackened. It was a lot for a 9 month old – and his parents – to endure. Thankfully, now 3 months after the surgery, he is healing well and developing right on time.

I am grateful that we have insurance that covered most of the costs of the surgery. I applied for assistance programs and set up payment plans – but as I did this more and more bills that could not be combined began to come in. Before I knew it, I had 4 different bills, and 4 different payment plans at $50 each, that’s $200 a month on top of the normal cost of raising a child and bills that I just don’t have enough to cover.
So please, even if you can't give, please give this a share.
Thanking you in advance - Amber & Owen
