My Mom's Medical Fund!

Donation protected
The woman in the picture is my mom.
This gofundme is something I should have done years ago, but my mom always told me not to. She is currently on the donor list for a kidney, as she has Stage 4 kidney disease. She only has partial kidney function and is in desperate need of a transplant. As if this wasn't scary or expensive enough, she has also been struggling with Reflexive Sympathetic Dystrophy. In 2006, she was working as a special ed teacher and ended up getting bitten by one of her students. This caused what is sometimes known as RSD. RSD, which can also be referred to as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is a chronic condition characterized by severe burning pain, most often affecting one of the extremities (arms, legs, hands, or feet). In my mom's case, it affects both her arms and her feet.
After the bite, my mom was pulled from work and has been struggling to pay for medical bills, treatments, etc. for almost 10 years. The RSD medication she was taking is what put her into Stage 4 kidney disease. The added kidney transplant looming in the near future is adding a lot of stress to our family. There is no cure for RSD/CRPS, only treatments to make the pain more bearable. My mom is the sweetest, kindest person in the whole world. She doesn't want me to post this, but she deserves all the best things, including treatments. If you know her, or have spent even 10 minutes with her, you know she cares so much about everybody and now I just want to show her how much we care about her.
If you can't, or don't want to donate, maybe just drop a note her way, telling her you're thinking of her! Thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring about my mom. She is truly spectacular and I'm so glad to be her daughter, I want her around for a long, long time. <3

Some of the financial expenses pre-transplant and post-transplant will include:
* Pre-transplant evaluations and testing
* Extensive dental work (required for cardiac clearance)
* The surgery itself (including surgeons and operating staff fees and anesthesia)
* Anti-rejection medication (mandatory for life totaling up to $6100/month)
*Insurance - Medicare Part A & B to cover hospital costs and medications
* Post-operation doctors visits and ongoing treatment (3/wk first month)

Transplantliving.org estimates that the total cost per person for a kidney transplant can cost up to $263,000!
