Preparing our youth for the future
Donation protected
Late in 2012, in a tiny art gallery in an old mall space, we met a few local kids that had great unique talents for creating strikingly gorgeous art but, not the dollars to afford finer materials like a simple pad of quality paper. Instead, we saw these tedious works on napkins, lined notebook paper, paintings on old cardboard, among other materials. Most of these kids were shy, very quiet and lacking any confidence in their skills.
What did we do? Gave them some nice paper and canvas (our own) and left art materials out, inviting all to use them. Before long, they became regular visitors and brought other creative young artists with them to instructional workshops we scheduled. It was soon enough we held a juried youth art exhibit. They weren't the bashful, meek kids we had first met but, had a certain beam in their eyes and more of a stride in their walk - eager and proud to hear praise for their fine works and more than happy to share their supplies and newly gained knowledge with younger kids who needed paper like they did.
That was when this hit us :
We're supporting, inspiring and encouraging the potential of future leaders of our community! These were smart, caring young people with dreams and, now, the confidence to chase what they desired!
We've put a lot together with out-of-pocket funding, and a few personal donations, for over 2 years to support a variety of local young arts in our town.
- 2nd Friday exhibits at a local restaurant,
- Large exhibit at a large local gallery,
- Many monthly exhibits at different places,
- A youth music event,
- Instructional classes for youth
We're involved with King Career Center - a local High School - directly also.
Look at us go!
For what we have, we've done a lot for many young artists and have used our limited resources to provide frames, hanging hardware and places to display and perform.
This IS where our passion found the future of these bright young residents needing us to care.
We have a lot of volunteers that have helped make this happen but, some costs are unavoidable and we have exhausted our own money and resources many times.
Just $20 will provide hardware and title cards for a youth exhibit.
Just $50 will provide transportation to and from an exhibit AND light foods for a reception!
$100 enables us to supply material for an instructional workshop! (reward level as well! :)
Our list of young artists is over 30 individuals now and we continue to meet more in need.
This will not only happen regularly with your support, it will show some talent this town honestly deserves to see.
It's time to invest in their future AND ours.
A sincere THANK YOU!
