Pantsuit Pursuit 5K walk/run!

This is a 5K run/walk on campus... in pantsuits!
I’d like to start with just a brief introduction! My name is Sophia DeLoretto-Chudy (my gender pronouns are she, her and hers) and I am in my third year at the University of Oregon. I am majoring in Political Science, International Studies, and Romance Languages. I am 20 years old and this fall I had the absolute pleasure of interning for the Democratic Party of Lane County.
I have decided to combine two of my favorite things, helping marginalized communities and running!
Saturday January 21st, the day after the Presidential Ingauration, I will be hosting a 5K run/walk on the University of Oregon campus. For a lot of people in our community, January 20th is going to be a stressful day with the finalization of the transfer of power. My hope is to bring community members together for a fun and lively event to raise money for local organizations that support women, people of color, immigrants, the environment, and other marginalized communities in our state. Upon registration participants are able to choose where they want their registration fee to go. Registration is $25 for participants $20 for students and $20/person for groups of 5 or more. All costs for the event are being paid for by myself and my grateous mother who granted me a small loan of $1,000 which I hope to pay back with this fundraising. No registration money will be used to cover the cost of the event. T-Shirts will be offered for an additional $10 at registration.
The cost breaks down roughly like this:
- $895 for timing/scoring/finish line management/online registration, sound equipment and announcing, a common start/finish line required for chip-elapsed results, display clock, sound equipment, announcing, emailed labels for bib numbers, finish line banners, alpha-numeric print listing of all registrants, printed race-day results and website posting – all provided by Elcectic Edge Racing
-$450 for use of University of Oregon campus
-$268 for event insurance
-$62 for flyers and race entry forms
-$85 for parking permits
-$200 for cups, water, and fresh bananas
- at least $400 for race bib numbers, safety pins and packets, depending on how many people register
- costs for shirts should be mostly covered by those who order them
Any money donated that is not needed to cover the cost of putting on the event will be distributed to the organizations the recieved the least amount of money from registration fees.
