Tony's transplant fund

Tony's transplant fund:
Hello my name is Emma Nye and I'm writing to you on behalf of my best friend tony dyer.

Tony is 31 and from Portsmouth , he was born with cystic fibrosis , which is an inherited disease effecting many of his organs, mainly the lungs. It is caused by a faulty gene, causing thick sticky mucous to clog up major organs. The average life expectancy of someone suffering from cystic fibrosis it mid to late 30's.

Over the past two years , Tony's health has dramatically declined, resulting to him being dependant on oxygen, and needing regular antibiotics and physio therapy to maintain what little lung function he has left. He is now diabetic, anaemic, has brittle bones and suffers chronic pain.

6 months ago tony was placed on the transplant list, but was still managing to live at home and mobilise around. However, the past few months he has been so poorly, that he has not left Southampton general hospital since October 2014.

Tony has recently been told that unless he receives the much needed transplant, he only has 6 months to live. He has been told he is a good size and that he has a common blood and tissue type, so the potential for a match is extremely good. However, in the past 8 weeks he has received "the call" twice, traveled the 60 mile journey, encountered numerous tests, and endless hours of waiting , to be told that unfortunately the lungs did not fit the protocol and unable to transplant.

Despite this news , it never seems to set tony back, with so much going on in the little life he has left. His main concern is that, in the past 8 weeks his family have spent near on £400 on travel and accommodation , for the devastating outcome.

Sadly, money is tight for tony and his family, and with little income and savings , he is worried that when the transplant does go ahead, His family will have run out of funds.

My aim.........
My aim is reduce some of the stress on tony and his family by hosting a charity night on 11th April 2015. Which will raise the vital funds needed, to help with accommodation and travel costs.

If a transplant is successful, once discharged, tony requires 3 weekly visits to the hospital , which is 120mile round journey. By raising money, to we can take the financial burden away from tony and his family.

Should the worse happen, and tony not receive a transplant and gives up his fight too this awful illness; all funds raised will go to help tony fulfil a bucket list, and contribute towards funeral costs! Tony States " he would like to donate some money to the ward at Southampton general to help others like himself".

I want to take as much stress away from tony as possible, I'm not intending on making millions, but every little helps..

Please can u help me ?

Many thanks
