Pedalling Forwards — Please Help!

Donation protected
I’m incredibly fortunate to have had so many people donate to get me started — I wouldn’t have made it this far without your support!

So far I’ve cycled over 3,500km and reached Queensland’s central coast, but I’ve now run out of funds. I’ve got the rest of Queensland left to cycle up, and before the summer heat and monsoons hit. Can you help me complete this journey?

In March this year, after months of re-building my health, I set off on a personal quest: a bicycle journey from the southern end of Tasmania up the east coast of Australia, travelling to innovative sustainability projects along the way and blogging about them as I go (you can read my story at: http://pedallingforwards.com).

From industrial plastics recycling to community solar projects; from electric truck factories to hospital waste programs; from regenerative agriculture to sustainable architecture; and from nuclear fusion research to programs reducing food waste; this journey has been an exploration of the myriad ways in which Australians are solving the big environmental challenges of our time; revealing the many good-news-stories out there, and the difference that ordinary people are making.

But there are more sustainability projects for me to visit up the QLD coast, including examples of sustainable aqua-culture, rainforest restoration, carbon farming with seaweed, biomass power using crop residue, and the latest materials resource recovery technology.

This has also been a personal journey of recovery from burnout and stress-induced health challenges, talking openly about the burnout epidemic and finding purpose and balance while staying an active citizen into the future.

I’ve come a long way in terms of my own recovery, learning about myself and re-building my physical and mental resilience — and there’s a lot more that I want to write about in this space.

I’ve come this far. It would mean so much to me if you would help me get to the top.

I live very lean, free camping where I can and doing cleaning in hostels to earn a bed for the night. Caravan parks are donating nights for free, and kind strangers are offering their spare beds. I eat simply and have been patching the patches on my clothes. Nonetheless, It will cost me about $2,000 to finish this journey — food, repairs, camp fees, etc.

I’ve never been good at asking for money, but if you think what I’m doing is worthwhile, or if you’ve got nothing better to do than throw money at dreams, then I’d love your support.

Are you able to:
1. Donate to keep me pedalling forwards,
2. Share my website or Facebook page with others, and/or
3. Connect me with funding sources who might be willing to support my journey?

I’m also able to give media interviews and community talks, in person (if it’s on my route) or via video link.
