Canyon Fire 2 Equine Evacuee Fund

Donation protected
There isn’t a way to easily explain the devastation and heartbreak that was experienced yesterday by all at Orange Park Acres and Peacock Hill Equestrian Center at Irvine Park, because of the Canyon Fire 2.  I hold a special place in my heart for Peacock because it just recently became a new home for me. I have worked for Le Cheval Sporthorses as an instructor for some time now. What is particularly important about that to me is the lead trainer and owner is my very best friend Lauren Mitchell. I proudly watched her take a few horses and start a wonderful, honest hunter/jumper program. I watched her flourish at Peacock and her program grow into a robust show barn. I had to watch her lose it all yesterday October 9th, 2017. The flames and winds were incredible and had no mercy. We were running horses up the road and across busy interesections to escape from the flames. Strangers were just grabbing horses and running. I have never seen so many wonderful heroes take action. True angels.

Thankfully all horses were evacuated from the facility before it was overtaken by flames. Tack, grain, blankets, halters, and so much more has been decimated. But our horse community is strong. Currently the approximately 150 horses are spread across the county at host barns, who have graciously opened their stall doors to the evacuees. This fund is to help these wonderful people and their horses. I am focusing the effort for the evacuees at Serrano Creek Ranch, but obviously will spread the donations to the other evacuees as I set up contact points at the other facilities.  These funds will provide continuous care at the facility including feed, hay, stall rental fees, veterinary care, equipment (grooming tools, halters, feed buckets) and other necessities. If you would like to donate directly please contact me at [phone redacted] or [email redacted] and I can direct you to the area of the most need. If you would like to be a point of contact for donations at a evacuation barn please contact me as well. Thank you and keep those prayers coming!

I will be taking the funds collected as a representative of Le Cheval Sport Horses from Peacock Hills Equestrian Center and using it at feed stores and tack stores when needed and is available to all horse owners and trainers from Peacock Hills Equestrian Center. The rest will be donated to the facility to cover what insurance may not.
