Baby Chantal's Burn Recovery
Donation protected
Every parent's worst nightmare has become a reality for Chris and Julie Phippard and their 13 month old daughter, Chantal. Julie recently returned to work after her maternity leave, and Chantal began attending daycare 5 days a week.
Tragically, an incident at daycare in early October has caused serious chemical burns on both of her hands. She is currently at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg, and there is no date set for her to go home. The expectation for recovery changes daily as the medical team is monitoring the condition of her hands. It is looking as though plastic surgery with a skin graft may be needed. Her recovery is expected to take some time, and she will require extended wound care and rehabilitation. Needless to say the future is uncertain for the Phippards right now, as doctors are trying to determine the best course of action to treat Chantal's burns.
What is certain, is there will be a long road to recovery for Chantal, along with the need for tons of support for her family. Both Julie and Chris are currently off work in order to attend to Chantal's needs. One of them will need to be returning to work, but one parent will need to stay off with Chantal for the next several weeks and perhaps months. The situation has also resulted in a number of unexpected expenses such as round-the-clock hospital parking.
Needless to say, we are hoping that we can offer some support to them so that they do not have to worry about money in addition to their other concerns at this time.
Chris and Julie have been extremely thankful for the outpouring of love and support they have received so far from close family and friends. It would mean the world to them if they were able to focus on Chantal's recovery and not have to worry about their income for the next few months at least. If you are wondering how you can help them, please consider making a donation. They are always the first to be there when their friends are in need of help, so let's be there for them when they need it the most.
Thank you for your support!
