Patuxent High School NJROTC
Donation protected
The Patuxent High School Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) is a program that develops leadership, citizenship, and self-discipline, while providing a variety of community services such as Color Guard, ushering, parking control, adopt-a-highway, and volunteer work totaling over 4,500 man-hours per year. Patuxent High NJROTC has been ranked as one of the top five units in the nation for ten years and has been selected as one of the top NJROTC units in the mid-Atlantic for the last sixteen years. NJROTC includes teams in military drill, color guard, physical fitness, academics, small boat sailing, orienteering and air rifle and air pistol marksmanship, which compete regionally throughout the year.
Expenses of the NJROTC program are considerable. While the U.S. Navy provides uniforms and some basic equipment, their support does not include the costs of transportation, competition entry fees, travel costs, supplemental equipment, awards, consumable supplies or repair and replacement of parts.
Currently our unit is in need of two large items. The first being new warm up suits for competitions. These suits are used for numerous activities throughout the year. While the unit currently has warm up suits, they are approximately 10 years old and are warn out and tattered. A minimum of 60 suits is needed at a cost of approximately $70 per suit. These suits will then need to be embroidered with the NJROTC logo. We are estimating a total cost of approximately $5,000.
Second, the unit is looking to raise money to replace twelve XR150 UHF Radios with charging base ($2,520) and seven air rifles ($2,310) for a total cost of approximately $4,830.
We would very much appreciate your support in fullfilling the goals and dreams of these young men and women.
