Dadnard's Lymphedema Therapy

Donation protected

Lymphedema
is commonly caused by the damage to or removal of one's lymph nodes as part of cancer treatment.  Lymphedema results from a blockage in your lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. The blockage prevents fluid from draining  and causes the fluid buildup that leads to swelling. Unfortunaely there is no cure for Lymphedema, but it can be managed with care and treatment of the affected limb.

My name is Dadiana and I am raising money for my mother's Lymphedema therapy treatment. My mother, Dadnard, is a strong, vibrant, God fearing women. She is full of life and loves her family unconditionally.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. After having a  radical mastectomy and going through years of chemotherapy, I am proud to say that she is a breast cancer survivor since 2007. With cancer in her rearview mirror she thought that the healing could begin, but she was not prepared for the obstacles she would soon be facing today.

My mother started to notice the swelling in her right arm and hand several years after diagnosis. The swelling would later disable her from doing "too much" regular tasks, like, cooking, cleaning, typing, even doing her hair. Not only was her arm and hand swelling, they were causing her unfomfortable pain. After visiting the doctor and discovering she had Lymphedema,  she began her therapy treatments. These treatments helped to circulate the water from her arm and hand to the rest of her body. After months of treatment the swelling went down.

If only this were a permanant solution. Today my mother is struggling with the same issues, only this time she has not been able to get her treatment. Unfortunately Medicaid in the state of GA will only cover the expenses for this treatment once. A one time deal, for a condition that would affect her for the rest of her life? Saddened, by this news, my mom was left to turn to  other resources for finanacial and medical support; doctors, social security, disability, even unemployment. Unfortunately her efforts were unsuccesful and she was rejected by all means of support. Diligent care for her arm and hand require constant support.

Today we are asking for any donations or awareness for this disease to help my mom receive the treatment she needs to start living normally again.

Thank you and many blessings,
Dadiana Jean
