Crates & Breaks will be a collaboration between myself and Chris G. (Scooter). The battle will be held in association with Color Codes.
My name is Khon Kavan (Khoncrete). I'm a bboy (break-boy) and independent artist. Growing up in Des Moines, there wasn't much battles/jams within the city. We traveled a lot just to collaborate with other artists with the same interest which is dancing.
Seeing how the scene grew and how the younger generations inspired me to get back into dancing. I felt like giving something back to them. We feel that hosting a bboy/bgirl battle in Des Moines will motivate younger generations within the community to keep pushing forward. This city does have a lot of talent that people aren't aware of and there are no major event for them to showcase their individial skills.
Crates & Breaks is not just a battle. It's a community outreach which unites everyone under one roof and provides a safe environment for bboys/bgirls to express themselves through dance. Crates & Breaks is a not- for- profit event. The money raise will go towards; the venue, audio/sound rentals, workshops, and transportation for guest judges/DJs.
Our mission for this event is to bring dancers together and spread the positivity of true hip hop, display the art and individual expression through music.
Our goal is to host the event on August 8, 2015 at the Des Moines Social Club and with your help, we can make this happen!!

This dance is very technical but also is very funky... it has a soul to it and you can't lose that...
