Peyton's Prayer and Penny Warriors
Peyton, Morganne and Jack's 6 year old son fell at chick-fil-a about 2 weeks ago. He hit his head and sat down for a bit but then went on playing as normal. The next morning when he woke up he was vomiting, slurring words, complaining of numbness in his finger, and just not acting right. His dad , Jack, took him to the ER and they said he had a concussion and a virus. The following week he still wasn't acting "right", so his mom took him to his pediatrician. They scheduled an MRI for the next morning. The MRI results came in a few hours later, the doctor called and told them they needed to go to Children's Mercy right away. The doctor threw out scary words, such as lymphoma, leukemia, or a possible bacteria in his brain. The next day Freeman didn't get the MRI to CM, so the doctor personally drove it up there Saturday. Since then they have done three lumbar spinal taps/ punctures. They sent him home for the weekend with instructions to return to Mercy Monday for another MRI to determine the next steps. The MRI Monday revealed that the "abnormal cells" in the spine and brain fluid had increased significantly. They proceeded with a biopsy of Peyton's cerebellum (lower brain) on Tuesday 1/27/15. Peyton is now in the PICU recovering from the 4 hour procedure. The doctor also has explained that the abnormal cells are now also in Peyton's brain tissue. Jack and Morganne are waiting results of the biopsy and have no more updates as of now (1/28/15)
They have drawn on their faith through this time. Jack also lost his grandfather last week, and is unable to work during this time. Jack works 2 jobs to provide for his family. They also have 2 other sons to care for. (A 10 1/2 month old and a 7 year old)
I, like so many of you have felt compelled to help. I wasn't sure how.
Morganne and Jack have a Honda mini van and the transmission is almost out. So after contemplating on how everyone could help, I called a friend, who happens to be their mechanic as well. Shorts Garage is working with us to repair their Mini Van and make it a reliable transportation for the Vanderpool family for whatever the outcome maybe. We do know that they will have return visits to Kansas city as well as any other treatments that Peyton may face in the future.
I am asking that you give anything the Lord may lay upon you to give- whether it be $1, a prayer for Peyton and family or $500, anything and everything helps.
Thank you in joining with me to raise this family up.
