The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the reality of many Costa Ricans who are barely surviving, given their diminished income and stressed physical, emotional and mental health. In the homes of "at-risk" children and teenagers, this is specially a difficult situation.
Knowing this reality, but respecting the social distancing necessary to “flatten the curve”, we have decided to create a collaborative platform that allows us to help these children and teens from our home.
We are impacting the lives of over 5,000 Costa Rican children and teens a day, by donating funds to two organizations that have seen their income reduced given COVID-19. We want to help these organizations to continue and reinforce their positive impact, especially during this crisis.
BENEFITED ORGANIZATIONS
The CHILDRENS HOUSE OF HOPE FOUNDATION / FUNDACIÓN CASA DE LOS NIÑOS (since 1995) seeks to break the poverty cycle through a multidimensional and sustainable approach. Through pedagogical, academic, psychological care and human and spiritual training, the Foundation seeks to prevent dropouts and risky behaviors, improving the lives of children and adolescents. The Foundation feeds, through its Feeding program, more than 250 children with 9,000 monthly food rations, and additionally it has daily Schooling, Psychosocial Care programs, an Art, Culture and Sports program, and a comprehensive Integral Family Management Program.
TEENSMART INTERNATIONAL (since 2004) provides online health promotion services created to help over 4,000 adolescents and young adults a year develop the knowledge, skills, and motivation to live healthier, more effective and satisfying lives. In recent months TeenSmart has detected a 600% increase of interest in their platform and we want to support their efforts so their underlying philosophy of "self-care and self-empowerment" is able to reach more adolescents and young adults.

La pandemia de COVID-19 ha cambiado la realidad de muchos costarricenses que apenas sobreviven, debido a sus ingresos disminuidos y su estresada salud física, emocional y mental. En los hogares de niños y adolescentes "en riesgo", esta es una situación especialmente difícil.
Conociendo esta realidad, pero respetando el distanciamiento social necesario para "aplanar la curva", hemos decidido crear una plataforma de colaboración que nos permita ayudar a estos niños y adolescentes desde nuestro hogar.
Estamos impactando las vidas de más de 5,000 niños y adolescentes costarricenses al día, al donar fondos a dos organizaciones que han visto reducidos sus ingresos gracias a COVID-19. Queremos ayudar a estas organizaciones a continuar y reforzar su impacto positivo, especialmente durante esta crisis.
ORGANIZACIONES BENEFICIADAS
La FUNDACIÓN CASA DE LOS NIÑOS (desde 1995) busca romper el ciclo de la pobreza mediante un enfoque multidimensional y sostenible. A través de la atención pedagógica, académica, psicológica y la formación humana y espiritual, busca prevenir la deserción escolar y las conductas de riesgo, mejorando la vida de los niños y adolescentes. La Fundación alimenta, por medio de su programa de Alimentación, a más de 250 niños con 9,000 raciones de comida mensual, y adicionalmente cuenta con programas diarios de atención Escolar, Psicosocial, un programa de Arte, Cultura y Deporte, y un programa de Manejo Integral de las Familias.
TEENSMART INTERNATIONAL (desde 2004) brinda servicios de promoción de la salud en línea creados para ayudar a más de 4,000 adolescentes y adultos jóvenes al año a desarrollar el conocimiento, las habilidades y la motivación para vivir vidas más saludables, más efectivas y satisfactorias. En los últimos meses, TeenSmart ha detectado un aumento del 600% de interés en su plataforma y queremos apoyar sus esfuerzos para que su filosofía subyacente de "autocuidado y autoempoderamiento" pueda llegar a más adolescentes y adultos jóvenes.
