Rachel needs a new kidney

If you know Rachel Patrie, you love her. She is one of the most positive, hard-working, giving, sweet, and talented people I have ever known. She also never asks anyone for anything so that is why I am asking for her.
In 2012, at 20 years old, Rachel was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and was told she had less than a 50% chance of making a recovery. The cancer had already spread to her bladder, ovaries, uterus, and kidneys. In 2014, after two years of invasive treatment and a kidney transplant, Rachel was over one million dollars in debt and cancer free.

Over the past year, Rachel's transplanted kidney has started to fail her. She has suffered blood poisoning, terrible kidney infections, and multitudes of other problems. She is currently on dialysis for three to four hours a day so that she can keep functioning.

Rachel currently works at the ZACC as our Alternative Music Program Director. You would never know that she wakes up at 3am to get dialysis prior to coming in to work because she shows up with a smile and gives her all every single day to help kids and adults learn music and build confidence. She is a favorite among so many kids in Missoula as she rocks their worlds week after week. To make ends meet, she also has a second job at Butterfly Herbs and often works 7 days a week without a break. Rachel would never dream of calling in sick or feeling sorry for herself as she gives so much to so many people in the Missoula Community, and her strength and attitude blow me away every day.
Now it is time for us to give back to her. Rachel is going on the kidney transplant list and hopes to get a new kidney this fall. Although Rachel has insurance, she will need to take six weeks off of work to rest and recover. She currently has a $1600 a month pharmacy bill outside of her regular monthly expenses. She filed for medical bankruptcy 6 months ago and all but $18,000 was forgiven, but her ability to use credit cards to get through a tough time was also taken away. Let's raise $10,000 for Rachel to cover her living expenses for a few months so she can rest, and pay down some of her bills so she can start fresh. She does so much for us. Please join me in giving back.
