RC Community Conversations @ LNI

Rapid City Community Conversations  and events have always been free and we always share a meal together.  We need help this month, unexpectedly.

We need to raise at least $5100 for two events during the Lakota Nation Invitational Tournament!

RCCC is hosting our 9th Community Conversation on Saturday, December 19th at the Civic Center from 7:30 AM until noon.  Lamoine Lapointe will be back to facilitate our conversation.  We are co-hosting with the Mniluzahan Okolakiciyapi Ambassadors   (formerly Oceti Sakowin). Our theme is "Respecting Our Past ~ Honoring Our Future".  Please join us - all are welcome!

RCCC is also hosting a Youth Dance and Hand Drum Competition for high school students on Thursday, December 17th at the Civic Center from 9:00 PM until midnight. Community volunteers will chaperone over 350 kids and give them an opportunity to have a good time and win cool prizes.

All of us want to welcome LNI students, coaches, teachers and families to Rapid City. The tournament has been growing and flourishing in Rapid City for 39 years. This event brings thousands of visitors and millions of dollars to our community.

We honor them and thank them for considering our town their home.

Rapid City Community Conversations was established to transform escalating racial conflict into positive, forward-looking solutions based on shared values.

Lakota leaders met and recommended a new path toward racial respect and collaboration.  Regional Health, the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce & Visitor’s Bureau, the Rapid City Police Department, the Rapid City Area Schools Foundation, Rural America Initiatives and numerous other organizations have stepped up and reinforced our community efforts to have a serious conversation in a good way.

Significant progress and hopefulness is evident in Rapid City. Important relationships are being formed that will have lasting results for our community.

We have to raise the money from our friends, family and growing supporters in Rapid City and beyond. Please share this! And we have to raise the money FAST!! Any amount, large or small, will help us reach our goal!

GoFundMe will direct your donation to Mitakuyepi, Inc., a South Dakota nonprofit organization created to facilitate the Rapid City Community Conversations, tax-deductible donations can be made to the Barbara Schneider Foundation.
