Don't let the Occidental farmers market disappear!

The sudden closure of the bustling farmers market in Occidental this spring came as a shock, but the community is coming together to reignite the town's beloved farmers market.

We're raising funds to kickstart the hiring of a market manager, cover permitting and nonprofit fees, allow us to purchase infrastructure like tables & chairs, toilet facilities, a market tent, signage, and a range of other start-up expenses.

Our vision is to establish a new and improved farmers market built upon principles of collaboration, community-building, creativity and sustainability that is a true expression of “Original Occidental.”

Please join us TODAY in building a strong and resilient West County by supporting the new Occidental Community Farmers’ Market so we can open the market on June 7th!

Why support this campaign?

* Farmers receive, on average, 7 cents of every dollar spent on food in the U.S.--the farmers market gives area farmers close to 100% of the dollar you spend on food at the market, helping to sustain the West County economy.

* Sonoma County agricultural economy (excluding animals) is 97% dominated by winegrapes--our farmers market helps sustain food production, community food security and health, and rural resilience.

* Our market will offer a beautiful, fun, and safe place for the community to gather. We're working with local businesses, vendors, community members, and the county to create a market that serves the whole community.

*We won’t succeed without you!

Please donate, sign up for our newsletter, join us on Facebook  & Instagram , and we sure would be grateful if you would take a moment to help spread the word to other community members.

We hope to see you June 7 for the first market of the season. You can further help the market be a success by volunteering and being a good market citizen (hint: use designated parking and loos!).

Thank you!
