Record Swim for Lewy Body Dementia

Teammates Frank and Paul Reynolds, their Uncle Joe Schertler, Michael Sharf and Thomas Dietrich are prepared to break the record for swimming across the Monterey Bay Channel, a total distance of 24 miles.
Inspired by the open ocean record-setting swimmer Frank Reynolds Sr., Frank and Paul's Grandfather, the team will carry on Frank Reynolds Sr.'s tradition of braving the open ocean and the chilly temperatures in an effort to complete the swim under the current record of 12 hours and 38 minutes. This is the first major open ocean water swim for the team, other than Uncle Joe who has done several major crossings.
Frank Reynolds Sr. passed away in June of 2014 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia(LBD), a disease that affects an estimated 1.4 million U.S. individuals per year. LBD is a multi-system disease affecting cognition, movement and emotions, but not everyone experiences the same combination of symptoms. The team hopes to raise awareness for LBD while setting the world record for their Monterey Bay Channel Swim.
But they need your help!
The team of swimmers are in need of some funding to help them get across the channel. With official observers, captain, boat and gas fees adding up, the team is hoping that they can raise enough money to help them complete the journey and raise money to help battle Lewy Body Disease.
