Dr. Robert H. Schuller Memorial

On April 2, 2015, Dr. Robert H. Schuller, Founder of the former Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California, passed away at the age of 88.  Dr. Schuller was a giant in the faith community and was known worldwide for his inspiration to tens of millions.  In 2010, when the organization the Schullers founded filed bankruptcy, Dr. and Mrs. Schuller were left financially crippled by the loss of their retirement income previously promised by the organization. Living on social security for the past years, they were not able to preserve a fund that would cover arrangements for funeral and memorial tributes. The new Christ Cathedral and a private benefactor have stepped up to join the family in covering the basic arrangements.  But the public has expressed vast interest in a service that celebrates, in ceremonial fashion, this man who gave so much and was loved by so many.  Requests have poured in for this service to be video taped for viewing by Schuller's global admirers. The funds we seek will help to give Dr. Schuller a lovely, albeit modest, goodbye.  His casket will be draped with the robe he wore every Sunday in his Crystal Cathedral pulpit. The famed purple color that framed his face sets the color scheme for the service (purple tulips are being requested when floral gifts are sent).  It will incorporate the Dreamer's Dedication where everyone is urged to take their fledgling hope, floundering dream, infant inspiration, and pray God's breath upon it.  Dr. Schuller held a formal dedication for every building on the Crystal Cathedral campus, offering it up for "the greater glory of God."  This day will not be merely the burial o f a Dreamer, but a time for birthing new dreams and resurrecting abandoned hopes.  Also included in this memorial will be a Memorial Display on the first floor of the Richard Myer's Cultural Center.  Titled, Dr. Robert H. Schuller: Standing on the Edge of Tomorrow, Dreaming Big for God, it will highlight how Dr. Schuller inspired dreamers to achieve what they envisioned and allow the public to view letters from presidents and celebrities such as Lucille Ball, President George Bush, and others.  This gofundme account, if funded in full, will provide a budget for all this plus a video production and a first phase website of drschuller.org - the official website sanctioned by Dr. Robert H. Schuller and his estate, helping to tell the story and legacy of Dr. Robert H. Schuller.  Dr. Schuller gave over 60 years of his life teaching others to "Believe in the God who Believes in You!" and "If You Can Dream It You Can Do It!"  Let's join together for a glorious goodbye to Dr. Schuller and a faith-filled hello to our own dreams.
