The walk under lake Macquarie was first done Wednesday January 21st 1987 and started from the marks point marina 21 Edith st marks point, I will be starting from the same marina this coming October on Saturday the 14th at 7am the walk is expected to take 3 and a half hours if there are no problems
We are very concise of the fact that 30 years ago there was commercial fishing operations in the lake and the number of sharks was dramatically reduced.As a result I did not encounter any fish or sharks.
This time we do expect to encounter many fish and most likely bull sharks and quite possibly the 2 three meter great white sharks, one called bruce and his friend that have been spotted in the Belmont bay that I will
Be walking under at a depth of approximately 7-10 meters . The Belmont to Toronto LAKE SWIM HAS BEEN STOPPED AS A RESULT OF THE POSSIBLE DANGER TO SWIMMERS.
To keep me informed of any pending danger the AIRBORNE FLIGHT TRAINING AIR CRAFT will be above me at various times to spot SHARKS AS THEY OFTEN DO SEE THEM IN THE LAKE. My safety will depend on the watch that they will keep on me as I will not be wearing any electronic shark deterrent devices and I will only have a small 1 meter long stick to fend off any other friendly sharks and I will be told of them by a system of tugging on my safety line e.g. 1 tug for in front …2 tugs for on my left and 3 tugs for my right 4 tugs for behind and a short space in between any combination if numerous approaches at once, most likely they are only looking and not feeding
My exit will be at the Belmont 16 footers club as was the previous walk 30 years ago when I was 25 years old, 17 years ago I was struck by the propeller of a boat in the Swansea channel having my right foot severed and re attached and my left foot struck also across the heel and under the toes as result I have no tendons in my right toes and limited mobility in the ankle, half my calf is not attached I can not walk far and can not run at all.I think that I will be able to do the 1.5 - 2 km walk under the lake as I will be waited down to stay on the lake floor but will have significantly less weight on my ankle and it will be heavily strapped. At no time will I leave the lake floor as I will be supplied air from a vessel above supplied by Charlestown diving academy and all necessary dive equipment will also be provided by them.
The exit time is expected to be at 10 30 am

WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE DONATIONS SO FAR BUT WE ARE HOPING TO RAISE enough money to purchase another building for more kids to live and learn and all the various needs that are required to get them educated and have a full belly each day. Some need medical assistance and operations to repair their sometimes broken bodies when they are rescued from there life of hell. Many Australians spend holidays in Bali and this does help the overall economy but Many children do not get any thing from tourism and are actually hidden from the tourists as it does not look good. Donating can help the kids that have no voice except for the great work that a married couple named putu and michael and their helpers have been doing for 12 years now with no government assistance and only small donations from Many people from Many nations mostly Aussies, they need a whole lot more so I am trying to get the awareness of who this amazing couple and all their helpers really are and asking for help on there behalf.
The children will pay you with smiles and laughter and that is priceless.
