Tablets for Special Needs Families

Hi, my name is Juliane Tsai. I am 16 years old and I want to make a difference in the special needs community in my city.
Special needs kids often have difficulty interacting and communicating. After volunteering at this Special Needs Center over the summer, I decided that I could do something to help this problem. Many kids at the center have their eyes glued to the tablets, lacking social ambition and interaction. I decided to transform their use of the tablets from playing pointless time consuming games, to learning life skills through an interactive, educational app.
Although technology can be detrimental in some aspects, it is powerful and can change lives when used the right way. Without social communication, these kids are limited to life's possibilities. Creating this app will aid the development of social skills such as interaction with people, basic greetings, and routine, so special needs kids can have a good foundation for their productivity in life.
With a innovative mobile app, comes the need for more tablets at the Special Needs Center. As of now, the center has only five tablets. I want to raise up to $1000 to fund the purchase of more tablets, so that more special needs kids can access my app at the center, and benefit from this educational activity.
By creating this app and providing the special needs center with more tablets, I will make an impact by teaching them social skills to maximize their potential to live towards and independent, productive, and normal life. As a result, creating a impact on social communication in our community will make our city stronger together.
