Folk Artist Ruby C. Williams Needs Your Help
For decades Ruby Williams has managed to make a living off her small Bealsville farm, her produce stand, and her vivid paintings of fruit, vegetables, animals and fascinating characters. Her paintings of people are often coupled with various folk wisdoms that instruct patrons on how to best live their lives. Ruby is a 2005 Florida Folk Heritage Award winner and her work has been shown in major museums including the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Museum and the Visionary Art Museum.
Besides painting, Ruby’s talent has gone into teaching children to paint, serving others, often through her church, and healing those who ask for her prayers. Her paintings often function like sermons, an extension of her ministry and strong faith in God.
However, after a cold winter froze her crops and those of her neighbors, she had nothing to sell at her produce stand and unpaid back taxes threatened the sale of her family’s land. So Ruby asked for help.
Money from this GoFundMe account will help Ruby with her daily expenses, taxes, repair of her car, potential hurricane relief and medical expenses. After art purchases by many of you, we have brought Ruby’s back real estate taxes up to date. She is currently saving for her 2018 taxes.
