Half-Marathon for Autism Speaks

Donation protected
In addition to my blog, Running Thoughts for Quiet Voices, I have created this GoFundMe page to help me raise money to support Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is an organization that has two goals:

1) Maximizing support and funding for autism research, surveillance, awareness and services

2) Working in state capitals, Congress and the courts for autism insurance reform that maximizes coverage for evidence-based treatments including behavioral health treatments

But why Autism Speaks? This complex disorder is very personal to my family and me since my brother Jack was diagnosed with autism at age 2. As far back as I can remember, I have known that my brother Jack is different. However it isn’t this difference that motivated me to fundraise for Autism Speaks. My sole drive is to honor the achievements of my brother: a boy who didn’t say his first words until the age of 5, but grew up to become a man that attended college, works two jobs, and knows more about the Knicks than Walt Clyde Frazier!

Through my journey of training and completing a half-marathon along with my writing, my goal is to raise $5,000 by April 30th, the date of the Cap City Half Marathon. Please support my fundraising efforts by any means you can. Whether you can donate $5 or $500, or simply share this link with your network, your contribution is greatly appreciated and I cannot thank you enough!

Also, don't forget to continue following my blog (http://runningquiet.com/) so you can stay up-to-date on this project.
