The March Against Sexual Assault is the Interfraternity Council's largest public event of the 2015 year and addresses a major issue facing our community today. Across the country, as well as within our own community, reports and instances of sexual assault are increasing. We, the Interfraternity Council, have paired up with the Women's Resources and Research Center, the Gender and Sexuality Commission of ASUCD, and Empower Yolo to bring you the March Against Sexual Assault. All proceeds from this event will go to support Empower Yolo, an organization that provides professional care for victims of sexual assault.
In 2013, Empower Yolo:
Sheltered 285 women and children escaping violence, for a total of 8,280 bed nights of shelter provided.
Provided counseling services to 872 individuals.
Answered over 1,800 crisis line calls – ensuring that survivors received the immediate crisis intervention and support they needed.
Provided restraining order assistance to 135 victims of violence and court accompaniment to 159 individuals fleeing violence.
Provided 71 educational presentations to 823 people – on the topics of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking or child abuse.
Provided on-site emergency response and advocacy services to 147 survivors of sexual assault.
