BABY SAGE GRACE'S FUND (scid)

Donation protected
In September 2016, 1 week old baby Sage Grace Bounds was tested for SCID. The first and subsequent tests have come back positive and this sweet girl, born early September, along with her family, face a year ahead of financial, emotional and physical hardship.

Severe combined immunodeficiency, SCID, also known as the bubble baby disease, is the result of an immune system so highly compromised that it is considered almost absent. This means that until she is cured, sweet baby Sage will be in a sterile, isolated environment with her mom, Stacey.

The only current treatment for SCID is a bone marrow transplant and it is likely that her brother or sister will be the best match donor. We pray for this because it will mean a much better chance of survival, even though it means discomfort for either 5 year old Silas or 8 year old Stella.

The transplant process is difficult, particularly for such small children, and the family will have to be in the hospital for several weeks, then staying in Portland for several months, followed by weekly travel up to the doctor for at least a year afterwards. This means that mom, Stacey, cannot work as a caregiver and dad, Miles, will need to commute a lot and miss quite a lot of work.

The family has medical insurance but the expense of this (estimated at $1M) will mean hefty medical bills. Additionally, the family is losing income and their family's main caretaker, Stacey, is in isolation with Sage. Friends, their church, and family are rallying to try to provide as much support as possible with groceries, medicines, meals and other support. Miles obviously will have to work as much as possible.

The funds raised through this campaign will provide financial support to the family for medical and living expenses while they get through this time. Many other fundraisers are being organized, also, by a network of friends and family who adore the Bounds family to try and at least put a dent in the enormous financial impact ahead. Any and all gifts are helpful. $1 or $1000. Please know that every cent will be received with a grateful and thankful heart. Words cannot express the impact your donation will make on this sweet family.

Stacey and Miles are examples of faith, love and peace. Their unconditional and outspoken love of their family is inspirational. Additionally, Stacey has been a caregiver for many families and treats the children she watches like her own, always organizing awesome adventures and teaching each of them to fully embrace life.

Let's fully embrace this awesome free-spirited family and help them through the hardest trial of their lives so that they can concentrate on getting Sage well and on her way to experiencing that Bounds family bounty.
