DFS Saipan Typhoon Recovery
Donation protected
On August 2, 2015, Saipan suffered a devastating hit from Super Typhoon Soudelor. The passage of such a strong typhoon over Saipan was unexpected as it was predicted to be weaker and pass north of the island. Instead, winds of 100 mph were experienced. The island suffered severe damage, as did many of our people’s homes. Some of our staff have lost their homes completely. Currently the island is without power and water and is experiencing a fuel shortage, which means even the use of power generators is limited.
Thankfully, all of our staff are now accounted for and are safe, but for some, the recovery will be a daunting financial burden. Some staff have lost their homes completely while others are faced with the ensuing economic challenges after this kind of disaster.
To assist with the recovery, we established this gofundme campaign. Donations to this campaign will go to DFS TEAM 670 CLUB, a non-profit organization registered in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The donated funds will be managed by DFS Saipan senior management and will be used to assist our Saipan colleagues in rebuilding their lives. Tax donation receipts will be provided upon request.
