Sandi's Great American Road Trip

In May 2012, I was a career changing second year English teacher in an inner city school in Massachusetts. I began having some female medical issues which caused me to have a visit to my local ER, where I was immediately checked into the hospital. Three days later I learned that I had endometrial cancer. It wasn't until a visit with my surgeon on June that I discovered that it was more extensive than originally thought. I have Stage IVB endometrial cancer with lung metastases, which is basically a death sentence. While continuing to teach, I went through 6 rounds of chemotherapy, in the hopes that I might be in the 15% of survivors from this disease. Alas, it was not meant to be. My lung mets are growing and I have made the decision not to seek further treatment because I have a travel bucket list that I need to complete before leaving this beautiful world. Sadly, in order to complete my bucket list, I had to quit my teaching position. But I am using my travels to teach my students a little bit about the world through a blog.

Luckily, I have already completed part of my bucket list which was to take a 2 month tour of Europe. I traveled to 16 cities in 12 countries in Europe between October 2014 and December 2014. 

After seeing all the beautiful sites of Europe, I am now undertaking a Great American Road Trip of the United States, but my funds are starting to get depleted. I could use a little assistance in completing this trip before my health deteriorates to the point I can no longer travel. This trip should take me a few months to complete and even though gas prices have come down, the most ramshackle hotel takes a bite out of the budget. Thank goodness that I have so many friends and family scattered around the country.
