#savechew - help save our community
Hey!
I'm Wil. I'm co-founder and CEO of a technology startup called Chew. We're the DJs' livestreaming platform - a website, community and collective that connects DJs, producers and content creators in music with a global, engaged audience.
We're a small team, based in London, UK, who are building this business because we want to help people like us - we're amateur DJs, record label managers and fans outside of work.
Why we're on GoFundMe
At the end of December last year, we discovered our infrastructure had been misused. Pirates(s) had used Chew’s platform to illegally rebroadcast a major sporting event — streaming their live content on our infrastructure, while delivering it on their own ad-supported websites.

We're here on GoFundMe because our users and the wider community asked us to keep fighting. It's that simple.
How can you help?
The cost of what happened is more than we can afford as a business and we're facing closure if we can't raise the funds to cover this financial shortfall.
I've set the target for this campaign to cover raising the £11,000 as well as covering the GoFundMe fees (£11,000 x 7.68% = £844.8, as well as 24p per donation received - more here) - but anything raised over the campaign goal will go towards our larger target goal.

We need 400 extra subscribers on our subscription tier to cover our infrastructure costs moving forward. This is really important - if we can't cover our costs, none of this matters!

We don't know what sort of timeframes we're working with - but if we can demonstrate the community's willing to back us, we may have longer to raise the money we need from investors (as well as asking for more time from our infrastructure provider).

If this doesn't work, we'll refund your donations (and subscriptions). It'd be a sad day for the Chew team, users and wider community - but we're not going down without a fight.
