Save our Legion
Veterans. They have always been there for us in our hour of need: from the first shot starting the Revolutionary War to the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. They and they alone have preserved out way of life giving us the freedom we, as Americans, expect. Yes, veterans have had our backs, our six as veterans call it, for more than 250 years, but now they need our help.
With this in mind, the American Legion Post #351 in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, is in desperate need of your monetary help. The Post’s Penn Hills building (originally founded in Homewood in 1919 moved to Penn Hills in 1967) is in need of repair and the veteran-related activities and services need your support to continue. We implore you to have the Post’s six; give whatever you can to help these veterans.
Specifically, the Post:
* Provides monthly lunches for veterans bused from two local hospitals, which includes a hot lunch, games, and mostly our friendly support,
* Decorates the graves of veterans at two local cemeteries,
* Sends cards and care packages to our active troops,
* Provides winter coats and diabetic socks through the Hospital’s Homeless Outreach Program,
* Provides cleaning supplies to veterans in independent living housing programs,
* Gives holiday gifts to hospitalized veterans,
* Participates in the Memorial Day Parade handing out American flags,
* Participates in Toys for Tots campaign.
In addition, the Post provides a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for veterans to meet and socialize. The Post also has on hand a Service Officer to help direct veterans to possible benefits and care.
Our funding goal is $30,000. No donation is too small. The Post is a 501c3 organization so your donation is tax deductible (see your accountant for details).
The Post’s address is:
4491 Verona Road, Verona, PA 15147.
Please contact us through this page if you would like more information about joining the Post and its activities.
