Save Prince's Parade

Donation protected
On the 4th November I will be running the New York City Marathon to raise funds and awareness of the threat of residential development to a valuable coastal site in Hythe in Kent.

I am raising money to pay for legal action and take Folkestone and Hythe District Council (F&HDC) to Judicial Review and stop their proposed development on Prince's Parade in Seabrook.

F&HDC received over 600 objections to the development proposals and a petition with over 6,000 signatures against the development. The objectors include Historic England, Kent County Council and the Environment Agency. If a private developer had submitted such an application it would have been dismissed but because F&HDC are the applicant, the land owner, the developer and the planning authority, they chose to ignore the objections and grant themselves planning!

This is an abuse of power which will cost local people a great deal of money and damage sensitive local environment, it puts at risk the wildlife on the site and around the Royal Military Canal and, by their own admission, F&HDC  will do harm to the setting of the Royal Military Canal, which is a scheduled monument.

Taking F&HDC to Judicial Review will cost  many thousands of pounds and this appeal for sponsorship is a beginning, please donate if you value the environment, value the setting of the scheduled monument or are concerned about Local Councils granting themselves planning permission in the face of overwhelming local objections.
