Picture shows Dave the chef starting to run around the new kitchen. We still need money to get a ventilation system up and running.

UPDATE:  We have found a new home!
The new place is at 188-192 The Pleasance.

We are very happy and relieved about this! Thank you for your messages of support and patience!

However, we can't sit back and relax! We need to continue to  fundraise as moving is a VERY expensive process. There is a lot of work that needs to be done, as part of the venue hasn't been used in many years.

Also, if you can help with the process of moving: you can drive a car or van, help with lifting and moving boxes, cleaning, painting, etc, or if you have a skill or trade like plumbing, electrician, plasterer etc, please get in touch.

N.B We must say that “the decision is subject to contracts being signed and that the decision was made on an open market basis and went to a formal closing date.”

The Backgound:

Serenity Cafe has been working with the recovery community for 10 years.  We are a small charity helping thousands of people experiencing drug & alcohol addiction, poverty, physical and mental ill health and unemployment.

Here is how Serenity cafe helped one community member: “It made me realise that I wasn’t the only one who felt like that - overwhelmed or isolated. Rather than going to a therapist who has read loads of books, it was actually talking to people who have lived it and continue to live it, and being able to say, 'I tried this' or 'that helped.' And I found that much more powerful and helpful."

Another community member, Heather, puts it more simply: "It's my life saver."

However, we need funds to help with our move. Moving premises and continuing Serenity Café is expensive and time consuming. This is where you come in.

To secure our future we need funds to pay a deposit, other start-up costs, refurbishment costs and moving costs. Any excess funds will support the individuals who are part of the Serenity Café community through our existing work.

We are a small charity which has achieved a lot over the last ten years by working very hard with limited resources.
