When life hits, it hits hard.
After fifteen years of pursuing my dream of being a writer, I finally hit my stride and believed I was just around the corner for a major breakthrough. Then June 2012, I felt not a small lump but a big lump in my left breast. Problem: as self-employed writer, I had no insurance. When I tried before, no one quoted anything that was less than my mortgage. With the new insurance law, I knew that insurances were no longer able to deny me for pre-existing condition and it have been more than five years since I’d seen a doctor. So, I applied for insurance. Got a great rate, but to be sure waited another six months before seeing a doctor, just so the insurance company didn’t accuse me of getting the policy when I knew something was up. Turned out that I had stage 2 Breast Cancer. Went to great facility, had great doctors. After five surgeries and radiation treatment, I thought that the bad stuff was behind me. Then two months later, we discovered that I had grade 1 endometrial cancer. More surgery. Now, my insurance did take care of the bulk of the bills however, those deductibles and co-insurances are still quite a pile. So, I get that just in time for my roof to start leaking.
I’m raising money to help take care of more than 15 thousand in medical bills and a roof. I’m finally writing again, but often feel that I’m so far behind, I can’t catch up.
I want to thank you for your donation. With your help I hope to be able to get back on my feet and pursue my dreams.
