Sea Dragons Underwater Robotics Team

We are the Sea Dragons, an underwater robotics team based in Port Townsend, Washington. As a team, we compete in the MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) Competition. In MATE, teams of students design, build, and program underwater robots to complete simulated real world challenges.
As of May 2019 the we won 1st Place and the Design Elegance Award at the Pacific Northwest MATE ROV Competition. We have been selected to represent the Pacific Northwest at the MATE International ROV Championships in Kingsport, Tennessee. We will get the chance to compete against the top teams from around the world for the champions title!
Please help send us to this amazing international event by helping us reach our fundraising goal. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to put Jefferson County on the map and support students in learning real world science and engineering skills.
In addition to our win, we have been working hard to give back to the community that helped us achieve our goals. We mentored school robotics teams, hosted the Port Townsend Mini Maker Fair and have completed environmental projects with our ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle). As an environmental projects we inspected a degrading fuel dock at the Port of Brownsville to determine its safety for recreation and the environment.
The Sea Dragons are supported through the Port Townsend STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program as well as Applied Education Foundation. By supporting this GoFundMe you will be supporting the Sea Dragons team as well as other elementary and middle school MATE teams in the region.
Please consider supporting the next generation of scientist, engineers and innovators!
