Who I am: My name is JJ. I'm an emerging poet and student at Glendale Community College. In the summer, I intend to take a vital humanities course—Introduction to Holocaust Studies—in Prague, CZ. I was also accepted into the VONA/Voices Poetry Workshop with Patricia Smith (National Book Award Finalist and Guggenheim Fellow) and The Home School Hudson with core faculty CAConrad, Brian Blanchfield, Adam Fitzgerald, Douglas Kearney, Myung Mi Kim and Harryette Mullen. I will also have the opportunity to learn from 2017 Whiting Award for Poetry winner Simone White and 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry winner Jorie Graham. In addition to all of this, I was also recently accepted into the Hurston/Wright Writers’ Week poetry workshop with Kyle Dargan.

How the funds will be used: Passport, Airfare, Food, Lodging, Transportation, Tuitions, Required class reading, Course registration fees, Additional program costs, Emergency funds, etc.

How soon I’ll need the funds: ASAP! I need to secure plain tickets and pay tuition ASAP.
