We are the Lemon Bots, a sixth-year VEX Robotics Team at Campo Verde High School in Gilbert, Arizona. Our three Lemon Bots sub-teams have competed at different VEX Robotics Competitions throughout Arizona during this past school year to qualify for the State Championship at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (which took place on March 4th). One of our robots won the State Championship, and a second robot claimed the title of Robot Skills Champion, qualifying both for the World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky this April. This is the fourth year the Lemon Bots have won the State Championship and marks our team's sixth World Championship qualification.
The VEX Robotics program is based around problem-solving strategy and promoting STEM education. The Lemon Bots have had tremendous success in educating its students in preparation for university-level studies. It has fielded a school’s valedictorian, multiple National Merit Scholars, and an internationally-studying student. Students who are on the team find themselves in a community of like-minded scholars with high aspirations who drive each other to greater heights. It is this fellowship and camaraderie that makes the team such a successful organization, and allows its students to achieve all that they can. In efforts to make a contribution to the promotion of STEM in our community, we have demonstrated our robots at various campuses to excite other schools about creating robotics programs.
While we are looking forward to competing at the international scale, travel costs are a much heavier burden on our team members since the World Championship is in Kentucky this year, as opposed to its previous location in California. The public school district provides very little funding, and our team relies heavily on private support Your financial sponsorship is integral to our attendence at this year's world championship. We are looking to raise $4,000 to cover travel costs, plane tickets, hotel rooms for the duration of the competition, and a rental car. We appreciate any amount you can donate.
