Service Dog for Amber

Amber was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was five years old.   She has been battling with seizures ever since.  They estimate that she has 10-15 epileptic seizures every day.  About 5 years ago, Amber had her first brain surgery. The first one didn't go well.  She came within 30 seconds of losing her life.   The second one went nearly as planned, but they weren't able to remove the part of her brain that triggers the seizures like they were hoping.  The third surgery was to place a neuropace and vagal nerve stimulator.  Each of these pieces of hardware will require ongoing surgeries to replace the batteries.

In order for Amber to attempt to finish college, and hopefully get a job, she needs a service animal that is trained to alert her when a seizere is coming on.  These highly-trained animals are very expensive.  Once she raises $25,000, they will begin training the animal specifically for her needs.  She will need to fly to California and stay for two weeks while she and the dog are trained to act as one.  This is also very expensive.  

For the last two years she has been trying everything to raise money; she has sold homemade cinnamon rolls, hot dogs, Facebook campaign, and various other events including a comedy night.  She has raised around $10,000 so far.  

We are hoping to raise enough so that they will start training the dog.  We would love to help her get the dog before she needs her next surgery, which is in another 12 months.  She will also need enough to stay in California for two weeks, including flight, hotel, food, etc.
