Hi, guys! My name is Shaina. I'm currently a student on hold. Let me tell you what happened...
Growing up, my dad was the best dad a girl could ask for, but he did have several health problems. He was in and out of the hospital so much that it honestly seemed like second nature. He had degenerative bone disease, heart disease, several strokes, heart attacks, surgeries, etc.
Although he was sick a lot, he was still my best friend and motivator. He and my mom pushed me hard to operate at my full potential which allowed me to graduate high school with an A average and as salutatorian. I went on to community college on a presidential scholarship where I received my associate's degree in science.
My junior year at Auburn University for biomedical science, prepharmacy, things took a turn for the worse for my dad, and we lost him May 2012.
School wasn't the same anymore, and after watching what my dad went through, the medical field disgusted me. I took a break, with intentions to rest up and change my major to psychology -where I could still help people, yet on a mental side rather than medical.
Time passed, money dwindled, the real world set in, and here I am.
I'm ready to FINISH my college career for my dad and get my bachelor's degree. I'm still very interested in psychology and am yearning to learn more. I even take free courses to continue my learning on Coursera. I want to make good on the promise that I would finish and make him proud.
I have it figured out that if I start again in April, I can finish by March 2017. I could accomplish this dream in a YEAR!
My total tuition is around $9,800 for completion, but I really just need enough to get started in April and cover what I'll initially need. Please help in any way you can! I would love to make this the year that I start the journey of finishing the dream and making my dad proud! Thank you, and God bless you!!
