Sharing Like Shakespeare is a quadrilogy of sock-puppet plays, wherein, all the characters are recovering addicts and alcoholics.

SLS I: A Grateful Recovering Sock Puppet Play

SLS II: The Ohter Fellowship

SLS III: Caught In The Grips

SLS IV: Choose-Your-Own Convention Adventure
The first installment is a 25-minute dark comedy about a recovering addict sock named Romeo who attends High Socks Anonymous meetings and shares spiritual siloloquies, but is far from a spiritual giant, in fact, he's kind of an ass.

All the audio for SLS I acted in and recorded several years ago by myself and Tobias Gale in his home studio. It is currently being filmed. The audio version is currently available for free on Sound Cloud and upon completion the video version will be free on Youtube.

INTENT OF CAMPAIGN:
To produce the film Sharing Like Shakespeare II: Crossing Over To The Dark Side and publish to a major distributor such as Netflix.

The Story of SLS II: The Other Fellowship
(Formerly known as Crossing Over To the Dark Side)

Sharing Like Shakespeare, just like many other diseases, is progressive in nature. The second installment is a ten episode epic. The play introduces an almost entirely new cast of recovering socks. Our main character, Othello, is a fish-out-of-water from across the pond, born in the "grime"-y streets of London.

His friends in the dysfunctional fellowship are very aware of the stigma associated with being a "high sock" and frustrated from years of living in the shadow of a much more popular and prominent Twelve Step sock fellowship called Wet Socks Anonymous. Othello experiences a vivid dream, and upon waking, he interprets that dream as a message that he should venture out of the comfort of his home fellowship, into the unchartered territory of the "mother" fellowship, Wet Socks Anonymous. You know, for "open-mindedness" purposes.

Othello was not prepared for the drama that unfolds. To his surprise, he finds Wet Socks Anonymous both familiar and exotic, and also, just as full of insecurity, contradiction, and wisdom as what he's used to. His simple and loyal friend, Fredator, comes along for the ride too, but some of the deeper implications seem a bit lost on Fred.

Current Progress

SLS II has already come a long way, sparked and constantly re-kindled by my obsession, and fueled by an amazing team of voice-actors, editors, creatives, and dope-fiends.

An amazing team of voice actors, including the talented vocalist Michelle Boudreau has graced SLS II with their energetic voices and breathed life into the characters. We have two-and-a-half hours of quality, edited audio material and between the nine different actors they play the twelve or so characters.

My sister inherited most of the craft-building alleles from our shared gene pool, however, thanks to youtube and trial-and-error I've contructed a cast of sock puppets. Special thanks to Allie Chabot and her pink glue gun.

In addition to sock puppetting supplies, I've also spent the past year, scouring crafting stores for tiny little furniture, materials, cloth paint, etc. I've amassed a small closet worth of materials for set-building.

I've spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours on audio recording equiptment, a capable editing computer, lessons from professionals and $16,000 on education in the Adobe Creative Suite of software.

What is the GoFundMe money for?
(roughly in chronological order)

1. "Synch rights" to several popular songs by major artists so that characters can perform them at kareoke. (The Wet Socks routine for after the meeting is to go to the pizza shop which also hosts kareoke in the background.)

2. Video recording equiptment

3. Professional stage-hands to operate cameras, microphones, lighting, and the wires attached to the characters tiny little arms.

4. Possible use of a studio (we've had several potential offers for free studio time but it's not guaranteed)

5. Professional post-production and video editing

6. Payment to the voice actors (they've all been paid already, but most of them donated their time for next to nothing.) I'd like to pay them more, based on how many scenes their characters were in, how many hours they spent in the studio, etc. Especially Michelle who plays the second main character, Mary. Michelle put in preparation time before, multiple long recording sessions  and she set the bar as far as professionalism and talent.

7. Submission into major film festivals

8. Promotional material to acheive distribution via a major network channel such as Netflix.

Meet some of the cast and characters:

Crystal Leason
Crystal Leason has been involved in the recovery community for many years. She lives in Everett, MA with her fiance' and her son Jax. She plays Wet Socks member Gabby Penton (Gabby P. for short).

John Boland
John is a trained voice-over actor and a drone photography enthusiast. He plays experienced Wet Socks Anonymous member, Bobby K., who is the speaker at the first Wet Socks meeting that Othello attends on his journey.

Dana "Bean" Chandler
Boston-based rapper Lil' Bean has a small role as Lenox, a member of Wet Socks Anonymous from Jamacia. He is also a professional studio engineer, and although he did not work behind the scenes on this project, he offered me critical insight at a time when I was still early on in my own development as an engineer and definitely pointed me in the right direction. He was one of the last characters cast and we hope that in SLS III we can find a larger role for him that showcases more of his talents.

Dr. Tom Michaels
Dr. Tom resides in Austin, Texas and works in substance abuse and treatment. He plays two characters, the Chinese sock Li that visists Othello in his dream, and Dr. Dave a grass-stained sock (from working in "the field") that is in no way shape or form based on Tom, it's merely a coincidence.

...and last, but certainly not least...

Michelle Boudreau
Michelle is a vocalist who trained at Berklee College of Music. I met her when she responded to a Craigslist ad I was running looking for a genuine Boston accent to play the male character,Jawny, a halfway-house knucklehead. Although not in recovery herself, she believed in this project and wanted to help. She stars alongside Othello, as Mary. Michelle has a passion for crafting and went above and beyond to assist in creating the sock puppets themselves. Due to the dynamic nature of Mary's character Michelle had to draw on a wide range and also resulted in the most complicated sock puppet of them all.
