Shepard Fairey "PEACE" Mural

Tax deductible
The proposed mural site, the Chico Peace and Justice Center’s wall facing the Jack in the Box parking lot on Broadway, has high exposure to both vehicle and foot traffic, and needs a little tender loving care. A community art piece would make the space more inviting and bring majesty to the downtown Chico area. Murals are art designed to be enjoyed by as many people as possible, making this art piece for everyone.

The mural will be designed and produced by the world famous artist, Shepard Fairey, and local artists, giving the piece the notoriety usually reserved for a major metropolis. A mural done by Fairey would pay tribute to punk and skateboarding cultural heritage, while giving progressive and alternative culture a real sense of belonging within the community. A mural done by a GIANT in the skating art scene would also compliment the Humboldt Ave Skate Park which was very recently revamped.

I can’t think of a better way to the honor the work done over the years by the Chico Peace and Justice Center than with a “PEACE” mural. This mural will be inspiring generations to come to strive toward a more peaceful future, and to use their creative expression as a form of empowerment.

Because this mural is scheduled to be completed in early August, time is a factor; so, whatever amount you are able to give, please do so. This community needs this mural, and with your financial support, it will happen.
