Shotgun Trails' Ramp Restoration
Donation protected
Bmx Family,
It's been a great year so far at Shotgun Trails in the bmx mecca of North Carolina. The locals have been putting in some incredible hours, day and night, to get the trails in prime condition. As most people know, our best riding months of the year are currently amongst us. With that said, not everything at the trails can be fixed with the determination behind a dedicated shovel. We'd like to ask for assistance from our local and extended bmx family in a two part effort in getting the Shotgun Trails' mini ramp restored and the application of a weatherproof hardening agent called 'Slurry' for the trails.
If you've ever been to this incredible spot, you'll know that the mini ramp is a hub for warming up, riding on wet days, and also an invitation to those that want to take part in the good times while riding something they enjoy. It has lighting ran to it that allows the session to keep going long after the trails are too dark to continue. Currently the riding surface is in disrepair. The support beams are still in great shape however. The donations we are asking help with, will be going towards replacing and weatherization of the riding surface plywood. Our quotes are $1400 from several sources. As this is the first phase, we would love to have it running at its fullest potential in order to have another great trail jam this fall.
The second phase is going to be in an effort to keep the trails running almost year round. This is possible through the application of a SoilTac mixture that has already been applied to several lips and berms. This mix is proven to hold against the weather and allows the surfaces to stay uncovered. Currently we have invested about $2000 in the SoilTac barrels alone and have already started the process. This is a very costly application, and as but it will pay (and is already paying) its dividends through the reduced use of tarps and more time on all of our bikes! With your continued support during the second phase, we would love to complete the rest of the trails and continue to welcome visitors year round.
If you are capable of supporting, our scene would greatly appreciate it. Lastly, please share this with your friends in order for us to reach our goals! Thank you!
