WHO WE ARE

Works of HeART Project
is a creative, humanitarian movement that inspires kindness and inclusion, celebrates diversity, and challenges racism and bullying through works of artistic expression.  We are asking for the public's help, both creatively and financially.

Works of HeART Project is busy creating and producing a dynamic film to inspire individuals and communities worldwide to create positive social change.  Please watch our video to get an idea of what our film will be about.  It will include interviews with other inspirational people, original music and much more.  Our goal is to have our film shown in schools, to youth groups, organizations and individuals around the world. But filming is expensive.

We have been working hard to save and make money by creating our own website, doing our own marketing, arranging local interviews, speaking engagements, hosting garage and book sales and so on. But we need the public's help as we cannot do it all alone. If you believe in our vision and want to see this film take off, we hope you will consider contributing to our cause.

There are several thank you gifts for donors at various levels of giving, which you can read about below.  We welcome any and all amounts as it all adds up. But if you donate $1,000 or more, besides the other gifts we offer, your name will also be included in our film credits.

If there was ever a time to spread kindness in the world, it is now.  Help us create a kinder world.

WHY WORKS OF HEART PROJECT WAS CREATED
Project Founder, Micki Findlay explains, "I was becoming so disheartened by what I was seeing and hearing south of the border, since the last presidential election; racism, bigotry, bullying and misogyny were being encouraged, fear was being spread, and the blatant dehumanization of certain races was materializing.  It horrified me. Teachers also reported increased incidents of bullying and racism in the schools.  This broke my heart.  Throughout history, so many people suffered and died to ensure that all human beings have rights; regardless of race, gender, beliefs and so on.  We cannot go backwards.  We must challenge anti-social behaviour and injustice when we see it.  As I am a creative being, I choose to do it creatively.  Theodore Roosevelt said it best, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." This is my new motto in life."

WHAT WE DO
This past February, Works of HeART Project  organized our first community event, in which we invited people of all ages and from all walks of life, to join us in creating a ‘Huge Human Heart’  in solidarity for the victims of bullying.  (See video below) We will be using part of the footage from that, and other Works of HeART community events, to produce our film.

WHY WE NEED FUNDS
As we are a fairly new initiative without a non-profit status,  we do not qualify for grants.  So we are asking that anyone who believes in our vision to please consider donating to our cause and help us get our inspirational film off the ground.   A lesser portion of the money donated will also go toward event expenses and furthering the cause.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

With the input and support of our creative brainstorming team, many thousands of hours have been poured into developing, filming and promoting this project - a labour of love.  We have connected with hundreds of groups, individuals and the media to spread our message.  We created our own website to save money and have hosted several community events, which we have paid for ourselves.  We have an excellent social media presence and reputation in our community and online.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Findlay challenges us to examine our own biases,"It is time to build bridges between people by breaking down the barriers caused by ignorance, fear and misunderstanding toward those who are different from ourselves." Findlay adds,  "We need to put aside our preconceived ideas and assumptions and learn from each other.  Art, music, dance…  they not only bring people together, regardless of race, beliefs or backgrounds, they can also help us get our message across. The arts tend to open hearts and, once our hearts are open, we are better able to listen.  Art can be a powerful catalyst for change.  And goodness knows, we need change."

WHAT WE ARE CONTRIBUTING OURSELVES
Micki is a contributing author for the new Chicken Soup For the Soul book, 'The Miracle of Love' and is donating all profits from her personal sales of the book to the Works of HeART Project .  For anyone donating $100 or more, she will gladly gift a signed book to say thank you.  Simply mention that you would like one in the comment section that opens up when you donate to this worthwhile cause.  We have more thank you gifts - see underneath photo.
