Meals for the vulnerable during COVID-19

COVID-19 is having a devastating impact on every aspect of our individual and national health, with a disproportionate effect on the most vulnerable members of our community. But COVID-19 not only affects people’s health, the measures required to militate against it, reduce people’s physical ties with one another and the regular services they depend on.


SLUNCHBOX was originally created to serve fresh nutritious hot meals to schoolgoing children delivered directly to the classroom.  The concept was built around a social, environmental and
economically sustainable strategy and working in all aspects towards the circular economy.


Due to COVID-19 and the closure of schools, the SLUNCHBOX service has been adapted in a not-for-profit way to deliver nutritious meals to the isolated and vulnerable members of our society - many of whom are old and frightened because the required isolation leaves them fearful they are forgotten. 


How It Works - here’s what your donation delivers!

- Existing Community Organisations (e.g. DCC, Robert Emmet CDP, Barnardos Ireland, FamiliBase) are in constant contact so that Slunchbox knows how many meals are needed are needed.
- Slunchbox connects local restaurants who will prepare the food in accordance with Slunchbox Covid-19 Protocols
- SLUNCHBOX and Community Project Development will organise “No Contact” Delivery 



Where will the service Operate!

Initially, the service is available in Dublin with the aim to serve nationwide.


We have the capacity to serve as many as 1,000 or more community members in need per day in the Dublin area. Unfortunately, “Viruses pay no attention to borders… race… nationality or gender ”- We need your help to make the service available to more people and across the country. 


We are completely unfunded and our ability to reach people requires your support. We urgently need funding to keep the service in place to make the service accessible to more communities centres across the countries during this pandemic. 

We can’t stop the virus but we can keep vulnerable families healthy at home with your support and we can save the lives that otherwise might be lost. 



Any donations will go to continuing this service and promoting into more communities that are in need.

Our work so far:
We delivered over 3000 Meals across Dublin and started delivering meals in Cork.
We support local businesses that provide meals for the most vulnerable across the country. 

This week we have delivered meals to self-isolated elderly, families whose parents are ill with
COVID 19, and families with kids who previously relied on the government-funded breakfast club meals, school lunches and after school meals for their daily sustenance. We also support HSE groups that are unable to get meals delivered to discharged patients, new mums and elderly that are cocooning. We help residents of private accommodations run by FOCUS Ireland. We haven't received any private fund so far by any organisations.
