We're a blog for the New South.
The publication is structured through the worldview of Louisiana Press Association Award-winning reporter and writer Jesse Brooks. It is centralized around the people and happenings of South Louisiana and aims to bring feature and personal perspective journalism to a digital world.

Our first goal:
For the past two years, we have been able to offer insightful and interesting content for free. Unfortunately, the upkeep of our website isn't free. If you would like to give back and help us reach our goal of reaching $300 to cover an upgrade to Wordpress's business plan then this is your chance!

Brooks is currently on staff as a crime reporter for the Daily Star newspaper out of Hammond, Louisiana. In the recent past, he was the sports editor of the Amite Tangi Digest and Kentwood News-Ledger. He was also the last editor for the historic St. Helena Echo before the publication closed its doors. Outside of journalism, Brooks is a singer/songwriter active in the local music scene.
